David's cake adventure

David was getting bored trying to play with the sifter...

So it was time to give him his cake! He had already had one birthday party in Malaysia, but two birthdays is better than one. So we had another one for him upon our return.

More gifts? Another cake? David didn't seem to mind.

He started out a bit confused, but a small taste easily convinced him to take the plunge.

We had a great time out at the Dallas Arboreteum today - David got to roll around in the midst of many, many pumpkins and crawl around in the grass. He also wore his Halloween costume for the first time - he was a white tiger...

New skills

David is starting to amaze us with how much he's learning every day. He can associate cause-and-effect now. He understands light switches, fan switches, how to turn water faucets, and more. His balance is improving when he "cruises" around tables. He still holds my hands when he wants to walk, but I don't think he needs them. He just prefers holding my hands because then he can run full speed without worrying about silly things like balance, obstacles, and the dog.

Speaking of the dog, he is getting along well with Sayang. She is very gentle with him, and has sorta-kinda learned that he

can play with her. He knows to grab her toy, and throw it. But despite his obvious ability to throw items far (throwing apples over 3 feet), he takes the dog's toy and just throw it at his own feet. The dog is like "wtf?". We're getting there...

David has started climbing into our arms when he doesn't feel like walking or crawling around. This is very cute and gives us a warm feeling...until we realize that it means having to carry our behemoth of a son around in our arms again. This boy needs to start walking, before his mommy or daddy blow their backs out.

Every minute is an adventure and we wouldn't trade it for the world.

It's hard to believe he is gonna be a year old - David continues to amaze us everyday...He has started to crawl at 90 miles per hour, with some interest in walking. He has made friends all over our neighborhood - it's pretty impressive to watch our neighbors wave and call out his name when we walk with him -in a nutshell, he knows far more neighbors than we do:-)

He can say a few words - dada, mama, nonono,yeah, uh-oh, there, here, dohg...all in all, never a dull moment!

David is still teething - looks like he will be adding two more chompers to his current pair...all the better to bite us with!

Hopefully, he will make us some yummy meals down the road. For now, it's empty pots and pans that amuses him the greatest. Hey, sure beats potential toxic toys from China:-)

He has gotten the hang of the walker and seems to enjoy it. We wait in bated breath as he heads towards a myriad of precarious or lethal targets - e.g. the tile floor, coffee table corners and our poor dog, Sayang...

It's hard to imagine that David will be a year old in 4 weeks...it has flown right by...the little munchkin has been quite busy, making friends in the neighborhood, traumatizing Sayang, our dog and keeping us on our toes.
